Brief Project Description

For my Advanced IT class, I had the opportunity to work on a case study. I was given a general business scenario, and my job as an IT Business Analyst for a large automobile insurance company was to create a business proposal and design a mobile application that focuses on the interpersonal connection with the customer.

Business Goal

Design a user-friendly and secure platform for auto insurance clients to access and manage their claims, while also maintaining a positive and personalized relationship with their claims manager via mobile app.

Statistics

  • 74% of shoppers use websites to obtain insurance quotes and researching information -J.D. Power
  • 71% of people with disabilities leave a website immediately if it is not accessible -MediaAccess
  • 78% of insurance consumers call a business after running a search due to the complexities and multi-step process of gathering an insurance quote -Local Search Association

Purpose

To increase market reach and the interpersonal connection between clients and case managers.

The left shows my first prototype.

Here are the feedback I received from my professor and peers:

  • The "Contact" option amongst the top navigation buttons seems a bit ambiguous.
  • A button to access app settings would be useful.
  • Keep the notification dots the same color unless they signify a logical difference.

The changes I implemented can be seen on the right.

  • I changed "Contact" to "Message," and "Email" to "Call."

Why? To emphasize the importance of communication.

  • I made the notification dots one color to signify unread messages.

Why? To simplify.

  • I added a settings tab in the bottom nav bar.

Why? To allow users to leave feedback on the app in case of bugs or needed improvements.

  • I moved the "Bills" button to the floating nav.

Why? To condense.
